About Tic Tac Toe

Tic Tac Toe (also called noughts and crosses) is a quick two-player game on a 3×3 grid. Players alternate placing their mark — X or O — and the first to get three in a row horizontally, vertically, or diagonally wins. In vs-computer mode the AI uses a perfect minimax strategy, so it will never lose: the best you can manage is a draw. Prefer playing a friend? Switch to two-player mode and take turns on the same device. A running scoreboard tracks wins and draws for the session.

Frequently asked questions

How do you play Tic Tac Toe?

Players take turns marking squares on a 3×3 grid — one is X, the other is O. The first to line up three of their marks in a row, column, or diagonal wins. If the grid fills with no winner, it is a draw.

Is the computer beatable?

The computer plays a perfect strategy, so it can never be beaten — the best you can do against it is force a draw. Switch to two-player mode to play against a friend.

Can two people play?

Yes. Choose two-player mode and take turns on the same device, alternating between X and O.

Is this Tic Tac Toe free?

Yes. It runs entirely in your browser with no sign-up and nothing is uploaded.
